M31

M31 Andromeda galaxy

Captured with a Starlight XPress MX5 12 bit CCD camera at prime focus of a MEADE LX10 8" telescope equipped with a focal reducer F/3.3
Mosaic made with 2 minutes exposures.

M31 is the unique naked eye visible galaxy. This spiral galaxy is at a distance of 2.9 millions light-years, in Andromeda constellation. In the sky, M31 covers an area as wide as five aligned full moons (click to enlarge).

 

M33

M33  - Triangulum galaxy

Captured with a SBIG ST7E CCD camera at prime focus of a MEADE LX200 8" telescope equipped with a focal reducer F/3.3
8 pictures have been added, totalizing 40 minutes of exposure.

M33 is a spiral galaxy lying in the Triangle constellation at a distance of 3 millions light-years.

 

M51

On the right side picture captured with a CANON EOS300D digital camera at prime focus of a MEADE LX200 8" telescope.
11 exposures of 4 minutes were added.

M51 is lying in Canes Venatici constellation at a distance of 37 millions light-years. This galaxy is interacting with another small irregular galaxy on top (NGC5195).

SN2005cs, a supernova in M51
This supernova was discovered on 06/272005 par
Wolfgang Kloehr (Germany). This picture was captured a month later on 07/ 24/2005.
21 x 60 seconds with a Starlight XPress MX516 camera at prime focus of a MEALDE LX200 8" telescope opened at F/6.3.

M63 also called Sunflower galaxy, is a spiral galaxy lying in Canes Venatici constellation at a distance of 35 millions light-years.

M104 also called Sombrero galaxy, is an edge-on spiral galaxy lying in Virgo constellation at a distance of 40 millions light-years. The dark line is a spiral arm containing dust opaque to nucleus light.
