Pictures on this page were captured in Netherlands near Uitdam on Markensmeer seaside (about 15 km north-east from Amsterdam). In this area ocultation level was 90% at maximum at sunrise at 5H33 UT, but unfortunately a cloudy curtain prevented us from seeing the eclipse before the sun had reached the altitude of 6 degrees above the horizon.
10 minutes after the sunrise, the lower horn of the crescent appears furtively. Picture captured with an EPSON PC3000Z digital camera.
5 minutes later the upper horn appears. Picture captured without filter with a CASIO QV4000 digital camera placed in afocal mode behind a 60mm F/5 VIVITAR refractor equipped with a SP40mm eyepiece.
The sun crescent progressively emerges from clouds. Picture captured without filter with a CASIO QV4000 digital camera placed in afocal mode behind a 60mm F/5 VIVITAR refractor equipped with a SP40mm eyepiece.
20 minutes after sunrise, the whole crescent takes a red glow through the hazy layers. A spot is visible on the right side of the crescent. The eclipse is now coming to an end. The dazzling sun is climbing above the Markensmeer. Picture captured with an EPSON PC3000Z digital camera.
